Apprenticeship Working Group delivers for Torbay
Torbay’s Apprenticeship Working Group delivered a successful campaign across National Apprenticeship Week to inform employers, education providers and young people about the ‘Opportunities through Apprenticeships’.
The campaign included a visit from Anne Milton MP, Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills to an Apprentice Takeover breakfast meeting as part of her ‘Blaze a Trail’ UK tour.
The apprentices and their employers were excited to share their insights and experience of apprenticeships with the Minister. Among them were roofing, digital, engineering, hospitality, management and accounting apprentices.
Apprenticeships and Skills Minister, Anne Milton said: “It was fantastic to meet the apprentices and staff in Torbay. It was great to hear first-hand how employers of all sizes are embracing apprenticeships and how they have helped their businesses to grow.
“I wish them all the best and look forward to hearing more about their great work.”
In addition to the Torbay Business Forum Breakfast Apprentice Takeover event, the campaign delivered Torbay Jobs Fair, a TDA Apprenticeships Business Seminar, South Devon College Apprenticeships Awards ceremony and Apprenticeships Road Trips.
The ten targeted events reached over 1,000 people leading to 100 direct enquiries.
The Apprenticeship Working Group partners are TDA, South Devon College, Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network, Torbay Business Forum and Serco (the Heart of the South West LEP’s Apprenticeship Service, Skills Support for the Workforce Programme).
As part of its development work, TDA and partners continue to work with local businesses to make the best use of the Apprenticeship Levy and encourage adoption of apprenticeship schemes throughout Torbay
